Origins of the game
    Hearts probably owes its existence to the 18th-century game of Reverse. Several variants have been devised, and are still being invented, in the attempt to produce the best set of rules.

Basic rules and objectives
    Hearts refers to a family of games in which each player strives to avoid taking tricks that contain a heart or certain other penalty cards, notably the Queen of spades.
