Duchess

Glenwood

For 1 Player - Level: Moderate

Layout: Lay out four fans of three cards each at the top of the table. Leave a space for the foundations, and then deal out a row of four cards.

To win the game: Build the four foundation cards into full 13-card suits.

Play: Choose any one of the exposed cards in the fans to be your foundation. For example, in the illustration above, it might make sense to choose the 3 of Diamonds as your foundation, because the 3 of Spades is available to build onto the foundation, and so is the 4 of Diamonds.

After you make all possible moves to the foundations, you can start building downwards on the row of cards, in alternating colours. You are allowed to move all the cards of one pile onto another pile as a unit, when the cards are in the correct sequence (down by suit).

Go through the stockpile of cards, one by one, building to the foundations or the layout - or discarding the unplayable cards to the wastepile.

When spaces open up in the row, fill them from the fans - and, when no fans are left, from the wastepile.

Redeal: One.
